If you've been following NSPBfy, you know we've had a desktop companion app sitting alongside our toolkit for a while. We built it, used it, improved it — and quietly realized it had outgrown its original name.

It's not just a desktop app. It's a SmartView companion. Everything it does lives in the world of Excel and NSPB's SmartView add-in — the place where most NSPB users actually spend their day.

So we're renaming it. Meet Cy AI SmartView.

Same tool. Better name. And a few recent improvements worth talking about.

What Cy AI SmartView Is

For anyone new to it: Cy AI SmartView is a lightweight Windows application that runs alongside Excel during your active SmartView sessions. It watches your spreadsheet, understands what NSPB data is on screen, and handles the tedious, repetitive tasks that slow down anyone who works with NSPB data in Excel.

It doesn't replace SmartView. It makes SmartView work the way you wish it already did.

What's New

Duplicate Intersection Fixer

If you've ever retrieved SmartView data and ended up with duplicate rows — the same account, entity, and period combination appearing more than once because of how the data landed — you know how painful it is to reconcile manually.

Cy AI SmartView now has a built-in duplicate intersection fixer. It reads your active sheet, lets you tag each column as an NSPB Dimension, an Amount, or Ignore, and then consolidates every duplicate intersection automatically — summing the amounts across period columns into a single clean row. The result is written to a new "CyAI – Push Ready" sheet, while your original data is preserved exactly as retrieved. No manual deduplication. No formula gymnastics. Clean, push-ready data in seconds.

Alias-to-NSPB-Member Mapper

NSPB uses system member names. NetSuite uses aliases. If you've ever had to manually map a list of department aliases or account descriptions to their actual NSPB member names before a data load — this one is for you.

The new alias mapper reads your source column (system names, no header required) and automatically finds the corresponding NSPB member using fuzzy normalized matching. It handles the edge cases that break simple lookups — leading number prefixes, special characters, slight naming inconsistencies — and returns a clean mapped list ready for your data load. No VLOOKUP chains, no manual cross-referencing against the dimension list.

Ad-Hoc Analysis Sheet Creator

Setting up an ad-hoc analysis grid in SmartView from scratch is more work than it should be. You need the right structure, the right period columns, the right POV configured before a single number retrieves correctly.

Cy AI SmartView now generates a pre-populated ad-hoc analysis grid for you — FY/TP period structure ready, layout dialog to set your Row, Column, and POV dimensions, and a 🎯 Set POV button that pre-fills your standard reference values (Scenario, Version, Tracker, Currency) so you're not hunting through dropdowns every time. Connect SmartView to the grid via right-click → Ad-hoc Analysis and you're retrieving in under a minute.

Why These Improvements Matter

Every one of these features targets the same thing: the gap between what SmartView gives you and what you actually need to do something useful with it.

SmartView retrieves data. Cy AI SmartView cleans it, maps it, structures it, and prepares it — so the time between opening Excel and having push-ready, analysis-ready NSPB data is as short as possible.

For NSPB consultants, that means less time on data prep during client sessions and go-live support. For finance teams running their own NSPB environment, it means the kind of self-service capability that used to require a consultant on the phone.

Who It's For

NSPB Consultants — if you're in Excel regularly during implementations, UAT, or post-go-live support, Cy AI SmartView removes the friction from data retrieval, cleanup, and load preparation. The Push Ready sheet alone saves meaningful time on any engagement involving data validation.

Finance Teams and NSPB Admins — if you're the person responsible for maintaining NSPB and you live in SmartView for monthly actuals and forecast reviews, Cy AI SmartView gives you capabilities that used to require either a consultant or a lot of manual Excel work.

Still in Beta — Still Getting Better

Cy AI SmartView is part of the NSPBfy early access program. It's actively being developed — the three features above are the most recent additions, and there's more coming. If you're an NSPBfy member on Windows, it's available to download from your toolkit dashboard right now.

If you're not a member yet, request access at nspbfy.com. Tell us you're specifically interested in Cy AI SmartView and we'll make sure your onboarding covers the setup.

As always — questions, feedback, or "this broke in an interesting way" reports go to admin@nspbfy.com. Every one of them gets read and most of them end up in the next build.
