Why I Built Cy AI: An NSPB Consultant's Toolkit, Not Just Another Chatbot

The AI market is flooded with chatbots claiming to revolutionize productivity. Most start with a large language model and then search for problems to solve.

Cy AI was built the opposite way.

I didn't wake up one day and decide to build an AI company. I was an NSPB consultant dealing with the same frustrations that thousands of consultants face every day. The idea wasn't born from AI hype—it came from repetitive tasks, inefficient workflows, and the realization that many of the biggest productivity drains in an implementation project weren't complex problems at all. They were simply annoying ones.

So instead of building a chatbot and finding a use case, I built a solution for my own daily challenges. The AI came later.

The Real Problem Was Never "I Need an AI Assistant"

The challenges I wanted to solve were surprisingly simple.

Opening a Smart View form often meant navigating through multiple menus, downloading an .svlnk file, locating it in the Downloads folder, launching it manually, and hoping Excel connected correctly. It sounds minor until you've done it hundreds of times.

There were also countless situations where I knew the answer to a client's question already existed somewhere—in a knowledge base article, a project document, or a troubleshooting guide I had written months ago—but finding it took longer than answering the question from scratch.

And then there was NSPB navigation itself.

Anyone who has worked extensively in NSPB knows that navigating through dozens of menus and administrative screens can become second nature—but it still consumes valuable time. Finding the right screen shouldn't require hunting through a maze of inconsistent labels and nested menus.

These weren't problems that required a generic AI assistant.

They required tools that understood NSPB specifically.

Not finance in general.

Not Oracle broadly.

NSPB.

The difference matters.

A useful solution needed to understand Smart View, plan types, business rules, metadata structures, and the reality of supporting clients during critical project phases. It needed to understand what an NSPB consultant is actually trying to accomplish at the end of a long implementation day.

Why Generic AI Falls Short in NSPB

General-purpose AI tools are impressive, but they have a fundamental limitation when applied to specialized enterprise applications.

Ask a generic chatbot an NSPB question and you'll often receive an answer that sounds correct but contains subtle inaccuracies.

It may confuse NSPB with broader Oracle EPM products.

It may recommend processes that don't exist within NetSuite Planning and Budgeting.

It may provide technically correct Oracle guidance that is completely irrelevant to how NSPB is actually implemented in the field.

As consultants, we know that those small inaccuracies can have significant consequences.

The solution wasn't simply prompting AI better.

The solution was grounding AI in real NSPB knowledge.

That's why Cy AI was designed with a curated knowledge layer at its core. Before generating responses, the platform retrieves relevant, field-tested NSPB content and injects it into the AI's context. The model isn't relying solely on general training data—it is referencing implementation knowledge accumulated through real projects and real consulting experience.

In many ways, the AI component is the easiest part.

The difficult part is ensuring every answer reflects how NSPB actually behaves in production environments.

What Cy AI Actually Is

Cy AI isn't a chatbot.

It's a toolkit.

A collection of specialized solutions designed to eliminate repetitive work throughout the NSPB implementation lifecycle.

The Chrome Extension

The browser extension acts as an implementation copilot within NSPB.

Instead of manually navigating through menus and administrative pages, consultants can jump directly to the screens they need.

The extension also streamlines the Smart View launch process, reducing a multi-step workflow into a seamless experience.

What previously required several clicks, file downloads, and manual interaction becomes nearly instantaneous.

The Desktop Application

Much of an NSPB consultant's day happens inside Excel.

That's why Cy AI extends beyond the browser.

The desktop application operates alongside Smart View, providing awareness of the planning environment you're actively working in. It can identify formulas, understand the context of your worksheet, and surface relevant knowledge without forcing you to switch applications or interrupt your workflow.

The goal is simple:

Stay focused on planning, not on searching.

The Implementation Toolkit

Beyond day-to-day productivity, successful NSPB projects require structure.

The Implementation Toolkit provides role-based tools designed around actual implementation activities, including:

These aren't theoretical AI features.

They're built around the tasks consultants perform throughout every implementation.

The objective isn't to replace consultants.

It's to eliminate low-value administrative work so consultants can focus on delivering expertise.

The Vision Beyond Today

Today, Cy AI primarily serves consultants.

Tomorrow, the vision extends much further.

The future platform is designed around persistent client intelligence—a system that learns and retains project-specific knowledge throughout the entire implementation lifecycle.

Imagine an AI that understands:

By the time a project reaches go-live, the AI wouldn't simply understand NSPB.

It would understand that client's NSPB environment.

Support becomes faster.

Knowledge transfer becomes easier.

Client self-sufficiency improves dramatically.

Role-based access will ensure stakeholders only see the information relevant to them while maintaining governance and security standards.

The Next Frontier: From Read-Only to Read-and-Write

Today, Cy AI primarily observes and assists.

The longer-term opportunity is enabling it to act.

Not recklessly.

Not autonomously.

Responsibly.

The future involves moving from AI that understands planning environments to AI that can safely assist with planning activities themselves.

That means introducing validation layers, approval workflows, audit trails, and rollback capabilities suitable for financial data.

This is a significantly more complex challenge than building another chatbot.

But it's also the challenge worth solving.

In financial planning systems, trust matters more than speed.

Getting it right matters more than shipping quickly.

Consultant-Built. Field-Tested. Purpose-Driven.

That philosophy defines everything behind Cy AI.

This product didn't start with a business plan.

It started with frustration.

I built tools to solve my own problems as an NSPB consultant. Over time, I realized those same frustrations were shared by consultants across implementations, industries, and organizations.

Cy AI exists because I wanted to stop wasting time on repetitive tasks and focus more on delivering value to clients.

If you're an NSPB consultant and any part of this story sounds familiar, that's because it probably is.

And that's exactly why Cy AI was built.
